Offer 1500 but anything in-between 1500 and 1800 is fair if the metal is thick. Ask if you can run it for an after noon and cook some ribs and see how it well it runs. Looks well made though.

I usually pay between $10 and $15 per kg for my smokers, depending on quality and condition.

That’s got to weigh much more than 120 grams!

That seems like a reasonable price. Agree with others. Offer 1500 but I’d pay 1800 in a heartbeat. I’m seeing similar ones online for 3-4 and up. I unfortunately don’t have space or an actual need for something like this but I still like to “shop” for them.

How much I would pay vs how much I can pay and not draw too much grief from my wife are very different amounts.

Thanks everyone. I was thinking of offering 1500 since i looked at their profile and they sold a couple down at 1600 also.

I think it depends on the reputation of the fabricator and the quality of the materials, which are not apparent from the photos except for the welding someone else pointed out.

  8. Yeah a TS70 from Meadow Creek would run you $4200 new and that’s a 240kg/530lbs smoker.
I would have to see the thing in person but that may be a steal.

The bigger question is what are you going to do with it? I was offered a nice one like this for basically free but I didn’t take it bc it’s overkill.

I think you mean 120gal instead of 120g.

    That smoke stack ain’t playin’…

I’d pay up to $2000 if I got a chance to see it in action first.

Welds looks 🤢🤮. Might be why hes having to drop price and that thing hasn’t sold instantly

It’s not the “deal of a lifetime price”, but it’s pretty fair.

It’s too shiny to be any good, needs more funk. Best to pawn it off on me for like $5.

No way I’d be allowed to bring that home

When I first moved here to the Bay Area many, many years ago, I worked in many communities. I met some old timers in an African American enclave who were WWII vets who had been welders back when the Bay was in competition to weld together Victory Ships.

It was somewhat common to get a word of mouth referral to an old timer welder who was taking any variety of metal tanks and turning them into smokers. As a sidebar, the skill of these older veterans with what some would consider rudimentary gear was absolutely incredible.

It became my experience that those who did the best work had a reputation. You only needed to ask around in the community. You might suss out if this is the case here with your seller (not a WWII welder in your case, but perhsps a committed cottage industry person). It could save you some time and money. Just my two cents.

Personally I wouldn’t pay anything unless I had a business. When are you realistically going to need that much space? You can fit a 20lb brisket on a Weber kettle.
